Over 450,000 PCR tests conducted - NOPCO

More than 450,000 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted so far in Sri Lanka, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOPCO) stated yesterday.

According to NOPCO sources, around 9,189 PCR tests were carried out across the country on Sunday (25) and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 450,836.

As of yesterday (26) morning, a total of 351 more persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive in the past 24 hours. Three of them are foreigners and the other 348 were from locally-identified infected persons.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from the Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 4,400.

Of them, 1041 are factory employees while 3,359 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees.

Within the day (26), 316 quarantined individuals left for their homes. Of them, two persons are from Hotel Dolphin QC, two persons from Dolphin Lagoon QC, 74 persons from Damminna QC, one person from Hotel Habaraduwa Police QC, 168 persons from Bingiriya QC, 18 persons from Horana Teachers’ Training Centre QC and 51 persons from Koggala Beach QC.

To-date, 57,427 people have left for their homes after completing quarantine. As of yesterday morning (26), 8,421 persons in 73 Tri-Services managed quarantine centres are still in quarantine.

By yesterday morning (26), 89 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. One of them is an expatriate and 88 are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at various quarantine centres.
