Rathgama shooting victim identified as former Inspector.
The victim of the shooting reported in Rathgama yesterday has been identified as the former Inspector of the Ambalangoda Police Crimes Unit.
The Police said unidentified gunmen shot the 47-year-old former Inspector while he had been travelling on a motorcycle with his brother in the Devinigoda area.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects had arrived on a motorcycle and used a T-56 firearm to carry out the shooting.
The former Inspector had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, while his brother was undergoing treatment.
The Rathgama Police have launched investigations to apprehend the suspects who had fled the area following the shooting.
