21,000MT of urea fertilizer to be distributed from today (09).
Measures have been taken to distribute 21,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer for the upcoming Maha season from Monday (09).
Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said state-owned fertilizer companies were issued directives in this regard.
The distribution work will be carried out by Ceylon Fertilizer Company Ltd and Colombo Commercial Fertilizers Ltd.
The fertilizer can be purchased from agrarian service centers, and a bundle of 50kg of urea fertilizer will be sold for Rs.9,000.
The government has also taken measures to provide Rs.15,000 per hectare to paddy farmers to purchase chemical fertilizer or organic fertilizer.
The Agriculture Minister has reportedly issued directives to state-owned fertilizer companies to prioritize the supply of urea and other fertilizers for paddy cultivation as well as vegetables and other crops.
