SLTB incurs loss of Rs. 800 Mn due to accidents.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board said that 1,400 buses from its fleet meet with accidents annually.
Sri Lanka Transport Board Chairman Lalith De Alwis speaking to News 1st said that the SLTB spends around Rs. 465 Million to repair these buses, and redeploy them into service.
He said that the Sri Lanka Transport Board incurrs a loss of Rs. 800 Million, given that it takes time to repair a SLTB bus following an accident, and redeploy it into service.
Sri Lanka Transport Board Chairman Lalith De Alwis speaking to News 1st said that a special program is in place to avoid such accidents.
