Tariffs for sewerage services have been increased, in line with the increase in water tariffs.

The extraordinary gazette notification was issued by Minister of Water Supply and State Infrastructure Development Jeevan Thondaman.

Monthly sewerage service charges will be applicable for all premises even if the usage is zero within a particular month.

Consumers who use an alternative water supply in addition to a water connection from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board should pay an additional amount which will be determined periodically by the General Manager of the NWSDB for their usage charges.

Consumers who have sewer connections without a NWSDB water connection should pay a sewerage charge which is estimated based on wastewater generation determined by a field inspection team.

If the water supply charge and sewerage charge for the month are not paid within thirty days from the date of receipt of an invoice, water services will be cut off, or/and the sewer connection will be taken out of operational condition.
