122 million more people pushed into hunger since 2019, UN study finds.
A study launched by five United Nations agencies on Wednesday (12) revealed that as many as 783 million people faced hunger worldwide in 2022.
This represents an increase of 122 million people compared to 2019, before the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the World Health Organization and the World Food Programme warns that if trends remain as they are, the Sustainable Development Goal of ending hunger by 2030 will not be reached.
