
Foreign employment agent arrested for overseas employment scam.
A foreign employment agent has been apprehended for scamming people by deceitfully assuring them of job opportunities abroad, in exchange for money.
The arrest followed the suspect's appearance before the Special Investigation Division of the Foreign Employment Bureau's Headquarters, where he was summoned to provide a statement. Investigations unveiled that the suspect lacks a valid license issued by the Foreign Employment Bureau to operate as an agency.
According to the Foreign Employment Bureau, the agency based in Mt. Lavinia was soliciting funds from individuals under false pretenses of securing overseas employment for them. Reports indicate that a total of 31 complaints were lodged against the suspect, who managed to defraud clients out of a sum exceeding 4.2 million rupees. It was disclosed that the suspect had been conducting this fraudulent operation for a considerable period of time.
