Nuwara Eliya gears for holiday crowds
The mayor made this statement at the Council’s monthly meeting held recently.
A meeting of the Nuwara Eliya MC on April 1 to announce the start of the annual festival was postponed due to the unruly group of protesters who demanded that the festival not be held at a time when people are facing economic hardships.
However, the mayor said that the festival would not be cancelled as it was a period when businessmen, vendors, hotels and those plying various trades earn a substantial income.
