The total number of COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka exceeded the 6,000 mark with 259 new cases reported yesterday, the Health Promotion Bureau said.
Among the 50 cases detected earlier yesterday, 22 were from two garment factories in Katunayake, six from the Peliyagoda Fish Market and 22 close contacts. The 14th COVID-19 death was reported in Sri Lanka, that of a 50 year old female from Kuliyapitiya while receiving treatment at IDH, the Health Ministry confirmed yesterday.
With the recovery of 60 patients that were infected with COVID-19, the number of recoveries has increased to 3,561, the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit said.
Accordingly, the Minuwangoda cluster has increased to 2,558 and the total number of COVID-19 patients stands at 6,024 with 50 persons reported on yesterday, out of which 2,454 patients including 14 foreign nationals are still receiving treatment at 23 hospitals.
