Two arrested for smuggling onion seeds & turmeric
Two persons were arrested in the Negombo Lagoon with a stock of onion seeds and dried turmeric which were smuggled into the country.
Navy Media Spokesman Captain Indika de Silva stated that there were 27 sacks of big onion seeds and 15 sacks of dried turmeric at the time of the arrest.
The Special Task Force (STF) along with the Navy conducted the raid this morning and seized three vessels used to transport the goods.
