During several operations conducted across the island, the police have arrested nine persons with heroin and cannabis.

The Police Special Task Force has arrested a person with 21 grams of heroin in a raid that was carried out in the Beliatte area.

The Peliyagoda Divisional Crime Investigation Unit arrested two suspects with 88 kilograms of cannabis in the Siyambalape, Biyagama.

The Modara Police have arrested a 39-year-old man with 20 grams of heroin in the Uswetakeiyawa stated Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.

The Kalutara Crimes Division has arrested a 27-year-old suspect residing in the Maggona area with 10 grams of heroin and 300 grams of cannabis in the Aluthgama area.

The Chilaw Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested 4 persons along with 8 grams of heroin, the police spokesman said.

DIG Ajith Rohana also said that the public can provide information to the police regarding drug trafficking via the number 1997 and those who provide successful information will be given cash prizes
