Police investigate suspicious death of 24-year-old CEB worker
The Police have commenced investigations into the death of an employee of the Ceylon Electricity Board maintenance Unit in the Seenigoda area in Ambalangoda.
The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old unmarried man from Dhodangoda in Kalutara.
The man had been admitted to hospital after obtaining a wound while on duty in the Yatagala Walinguruketiya area in Oorugasmanghandiya.
Hospital staff had informed the Police that the man had been hospitalised with an injury to his abdomen, which seemed like due to an iron rod having pierced through his body.
They further reported that despite the doctor immediately attending to his wound the victim had died within hours of his treatment.
The Doctor had thereafter raised suspicion that the wound may have occurred due to being shot by a gun.
The Oorugasmanghandiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
The body of the deceased has been placed at the Balapitiya hospital for a PCR test to be conducted. The post mortem examination will be conducted after receiving the result of the PCR test.
