'Pay attention to counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes' - Police
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the circulation of counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes has risen in the recent times.
He noted that few persons who had attempted to use counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes as well print counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes were arrested islandwide in the past few days.
The Police Media Spokesperson stated that since there is a higher possibility of counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes entering circulation during the festive season, special attention must be paid for the same.
Meanwhile, two persons were arrested in Bloemendhal, Colombo for carrying two counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes with them. Following the interrogation of the arrested suspects another four more counterfeit Rs 5,000 notes were apprehended.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Colombo Criminal Investigation Department
