Kurunegala hotel worker killed by customer over row on banana price
An employee of a hotel in Kurunegala has died after being stabbed with a broken beer bottle by a customer following a row over a banana.
The Police said the suspect is reported to have arrived at the hotel to purchase one banana, and had become agitated after being told a fruit was sold for Rs. 30.
Following a tense argument with the owner and employee of the hotel, the suspect had left the premises, and had re-entered within minutes with an empty beer bottle.
The Police said the suspect had thereafter broken the bottle on a metal bar nearby and had first stabbed the owner of the hotel, and then the employee.
The employee who was seriously injured in the attack had succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.
