`CID visits Sajith’s residence in search for Rishad

A group of CID officers had visited Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa’s Royal Gardens residence in Rajagiriya in search of MP Rishad Bathiudeen.

Issuing a statement Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that the CID had questioned him on whether Bathiudeen had contacted him on the particular day he was to be arrested. However, Premadasa states that despite six Police teams being deployed to arrest Bathiudeen, two days have lapsed but the Police have failed to arrest him.

Six Police teams were deployed to arrest MP Bathiudeen who was accused of misappropriating public funds and violating election laws.

Meanwhile, Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have recorded a statement from MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s wife at their residence in Colombo on Thursday evening (15).

MP Bathiudeen had filed a writ application through a lawyer seeking an order from the Court of Appeal to prevent his arrest yesterday.
