Crocodiles population rise in Vellaveli area
The people in the Vellaveli area have been severely inconvenienced due to the increase in the movement of crocodiles in the small ponds filled with water.
Residents of the area further said that animals, including goats and cattle that come to drink the water from the ponds, are falling prey to the crocodiles.
The movement of crocodiles in the ponds of Vellaveli, Porathivu, Kovilporathivu, Porukamam, Palukamamla and other areas in the Wellaveli Divisional Secretariat Division has increased and as a result, the water requirement of the fishermen and animals engaged in fishing activities has reached a critical stage
