Archaeologists discover ceremonial chariot in Pompeii
A four-wheeled carriage which believed to be a ceremonial chariot was found by Italy archaeologists in the ancient city of Pompeii.
Following the volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius in AD79, the city of Pompeii was buried in a thick layer of ash and is considered to be a treasure trove of archaeological artefacts.
The carriage was found near a stable where three horses were uncovered in 2018.
The archaeologists called the finding "exceptional" and "in an excellent state of preservation".
The chariot is said to have "iron components, beautiful bronze and tin decorations" as well as ropes and floral decoration discovered "almost intact".
