`Maldavian High Commissioner calls on Mass Media Minister
Maldavian High Commissioner Omar Abdhul Rasak requested Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to support in starting a media study between the two countries when he visited the Minister at the Ministry on Wednesday.
The High Commissioner asked the Minister to assist him to conduct a media study exchange programme between the two countries. The High Commissioner said that such a media study exchange programme is vital since the Moldavian journalist can absorb many things from the Sri Lankan media sector. At the programme it is important to draw the attention on investigative journalism and media ethics and to exchange the experiences of the two countries. He suggested preparing the study programme in this regard with the participation of the two countries.
He said that Sri Lankan is considered as a close friend of the Maldives and the two countries has strong ties.
Responding to the request of the Moldavian High Commissioner, Minister Rambukwella said that the necessary steps will be taken promptly to put the request into practice as the request is a highly important and timely.
Besides, attention was drawn on trade, economy and tourism and several other fields during the discussion.
