MoU signed to provide internationally recognized professional qualifications for electricians

The Government has taken steps to provide nationally and internationally recognized professional qualifications free of charge to electricians with the aim of improving the safety of the electronics industry in the country.

The agreements were signed by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, the Vocational Training Authority and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

The agreements were signed at the Ministry of Skills Development yesterday.

The Ministry of Skills Development states that there are about 45,000 electricians in the country and 85% of them do not have a recognized education or professional qualification for their profession.

As a solution to this problem, the government has decided to provide this national professional qualification free of charge to electricians.
