WATCH : Parliament heats up as “MPs try to impress President attending proceedings”
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa attended Parliament proceedings alongside Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today.
Government and Opposition MPs were engaged in a heated argument over the East Container Terminal at the Colombo Port at the time the President entered the Parliament Chambers.
During the exchange of words, opposition MP Lakshman Kiriella hinted that many Government MPs were delivering statements in order to impress the President.
In response, Speaker of the House Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena jovially commented that the Opposition MP too was attempting the same.
