Decision on releasing Mahindananda from corruption case on 25th Feb
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court will decide whether or not to continue a corruption case filed against Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, on 25th February, 2021.
The case was filed against Minister Aluthgamage for alleged criminal breach of trust of Rs.3.9 million funds belonging to a trade union named Sri Lanka Nidahas Kamkaru Congress.
In May 2017, the Colombo High Court served indictments on the Minister in connection with an indictment filed against him by the Attorney General in this regard.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court announced today that a decision on whether or not to release Minister Aluthgamage without calling for defence evidence, will be drawn on the said date.
Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige made the announcement in court today.
