Special programme to expedite repatriation process of migrant workers
The Ministry of Labor has launched a special program to expedite the repatriation of Sri Lankan workers currently residing abroad.
The Ministry points out that the main reason for the delay in bringing in the migrant workers is the lack of facilities in the quarantine centers to detain them for quarantine once they return to Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, steps will be taken to open nine quarantine centers in the nine provinces with the funds of the Bureau of Foreign Employment and to bring in migrant workers to the country as soon as possible, a ministry statement said.
