Train drivers pull out of Chinese carriages

Train drivers have decided to withdraw from running trains with Chinese carriages from today (01).

100 Chinese compartments were imported to Sri Lanka in 2009 and on several occasions train operations were disrupted due to problems with the brake system.

Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers' Association Indika Dodangoda stated that between 50 and 60 Chinese carriages are running daily and that they have decided to withdraw from the trains since they are also giving problems
