Train drivers withdraw from operating Chinese train carriages

Train drivers have taken steps to withdraw from operating Chinese train carriages.

Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers Association Indika Dodangoda stated that the Chinese carriages imported from 2009 were put into operation without proper maintenance.

He said that this decision was taken as authorities failed to take proper action despite the official notice given in this regard.

The Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers' Association stated that the train controllers have also expressed their support for this trade union action.
