No point in stating that there is no Community transmission
Dr. Haritha Aluthge, Editor of the Government Medical Officers' Association stated that it is not practical to declare that there is no Community transmission in Sri Lanka since the percentage of people diagnosed with the disease has reached 5.5 percent.
Meanwhile, Upul Rohana, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Public Health Inspectors, points out that public support for the control of the coronavirus can be obtained by disclosing the true details of the spread of the coronavirus.
If a person is infected with the virus without going to a another country or region where he or she is diagnosed, or if the source of contact with an infected person cannot be found, it is considered to be Community transmission of the virus according to World Health Organization criteria.
It is also considered a community transmission when a large number of people are infected with the virus and its origin cannot be traced.
