RE-OPENING OF SCHOOLS: HEALTH GUIDELINES ISSUED

All health guidelines with regard to the re-opening of schools on Monday (Jan. 11) have been issued to the relevant authorities, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday (Jan. 06).

“Principals, teachers, parents, and students will be informed on the process of re-opening of schools with strict adherence to COVID-19 health regulations,” Prof. Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education told News 1st.

According to Prof. Kapila Perera, the Ministry of Education has informed all schools across the island to hold discussions with parents, headed by principals and teachers with the participation of Public Health Inspectors (PHIs), Medical Officers of Health (MOH), and other relevant authorities on the re-opening of schools in a safe manner.

The discussions in this regard will be held from 6th to 10th January, Prof. Kapila Perera said.

On 11th January, the 1st term of schools will begin for all students from Grade 02 to 13.

“Schools will open for Grade 01 students in the new year, on the 2nd week of February,” Prof. Kapila Perera, the Education Secretary further noted.
