26,000 PCR tests carried out since Minuwangoda cluster was detected
A total of 4,523 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Sri Lanka since the first case was reported, said Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera adding 1,083 cases are from the Minuwangoda Brandix factory cluster and 1,034 of those cases are workers of the factory.
46 cases are identified as close contacts of the factory workers and investigations are taking place with regard to 03 others cases who are possible contacts.
A total of 328,880 PCR tests have been carried out in Sri Lanka, he said.
After the Minuwangoda Cluster was detected on the 05th of October, 26,000 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
All workers of the Minuwangoda Brandix factory have submitted to PCR tests and the process taking place at present is to submit their close contacts to PCR tests, said the Chief Epidemiologist.
