'PCs is a 'white elephant'' - Ven Omalpe Sobhitha Thera
Chief Prelate of the ‘Dakshina Lanka’ Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thera stated that the proposal to conduct Provincial Council Elections come forth at a time when the Sri Lankan Government is requesting funds to procure vaccines against the COVID-19 virus.
Sobhitha Thera questioned whether the Government has the required assets to bear the necessary expenditure to conduct the PC Elections.
“The Provincial Councils is a ‘white elephant’ and for whose need does the Government plans to spend over Rs. 100 billion to maintain this ‘white elephant’,” the Thera inquired.
