PT-6 crash in Kanthale: Special operation to rescue pilot (PHOTOS)
Speaking to Hiru News, Sri Lanka Air Force Media Spokesperson Dushan Wijesinghe stated that investigations are being carried out into the PT-6 crash in Kanthale today (15) and that the cause of the accident will be released in the near future.
He stated that PT-6 which is manufactured from China can accommodate two persons at the same time and is used as a tool to train test pilots. The Media Spokesperson explained that as a training tool, pilots are required to check in periodically with the flight control.
At the time of the crash, only one pilot was inside the flight.
Group Captain Wijesinghe stated that at present a medical team and the rescue team belonging to the Air Force are at the scene, and a special operation is being carried out to rescue him from the destroyed flight.
The Media Spokesperson stated that a special committee will be appointed by the Air Force Commander to probe the incident.
