Four suspects arrested with 200kg of 'ICE' and Heroin valued at 2 billion

The Navy assisted to apprehend 04 suspects along with 100kg of heroin and 100kg of crystal methamphetamine (ice), during a special operation carried out in Thoduwawa area, Marawila.

The four suspects arrested in connection with the 200 kilograms of 'ice' narcotic and heroin were remanded until 16 December.

The order was issued when the suspects were produced before the Marawila Additional Magistrate yesterday (07).

Last Sunday (06), the Excise Department seized 100 kilograms of 'ice' narcotic and 100 kilograms of heroin worth over Rs. 2 billion from the South Thoduwawa area.

When the case was taken up before the court, the Excise Department officials noted that the information regarding the drug trade was revealed following a month-long operation.

Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the main suspect in the racket is hiding in Dubai and that Sri Lankan authorities are seeking the assistance of Interpol to arrest him.
