The low-pressure area in the Gulf of Mannar sea area is likely to weaken further; hence the influence of this system on the island is expected to be gradually reduced, the Department of Meteorology said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Trincomalee, and Puttalam districts.

Showers can be expected at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, particularly in the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai. Showers will occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island.

Winds will be south-westerly to south-easterly in the sea areas around the island and the wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. The wind speed can increase up to 50kmph at times over the sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar.

The sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate. The sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar can be fairly rough or rough at times.
