Local Covid-19 caseload tops 27,000
With a total of 669 new cases reported yesterday (05), the Covid-19 caseload in Sri Lanka increased to 27,228.
The clusters from the Brandix factory at Minuwangoda and the fish market at Peliyagoda account for 23,674 of them, says the Government Information Department.
The number of recoveries so far is 20,090.
Furthermore, 7,001 remain in hospital.
In the meantime, the death toll rose to 137 following the reporting of seven more fatalities.
These deaths of four women and three men were from Bandaragama, Dematagoda, Wellawatte, Colombo 13 and Welikada Prison.
Aged between 53 and 91 years, they had developed complications relating to lung or heart disease, infection, pneumonia, diabetes or high blood pressure after getting infected with Covid-19.
