Showers or thundershowers in several provinces today
The deep depression over the Gulf of Mannar is weakened into a depression and remained stationary, located about 145 km to the west of Mannar, says the Department of Meteorology.
It is likely to weaken into a low pressure area further.
Hence the influence of this system to the island is expected to reduce gradually.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-western and Western provinces and in the Anuradhapura and Trincomalee districts today (05).
Heavy rainfalls of about 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Northern and North-western provinces and in the Anuradhapura district.
Showers can be expected at several places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts after 2.00 p.m.
The wind speed can increase up to between 40 and 50) kmph at times in the Northern, North-Central and North-western provinces.
