Minuwangoda & Peliyagoda coronavirus clusters exceed 20,000

The total number of COVID cases associated with the Minuwangoda Brandix Factory and Peliyagoda fish market coronavirus clusters exceeded 20,000 yesterday (30).

The Government Information Department stated that with the 469 COVID cases that reported yesterday (30), the total number of COVID patients reported from the clusters increased to 20,442

the total number of patients reported in Sri Lanka also increased to 23,987, where 6,309 patients are still receiving treatment at hospitals, while 17,560 patients have recovered thus far.

Meanwhile, two COVID deaths were reported yesterday (30) increasing the death toll to 118.

The Government Department of Information stated that COVID victims include a 72-year-old man from Galaha and an 81-year-old woman from Atalugama.

The man was pronounced dead on admission to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital and the cause of death was identified to be high blood pressure, diabetes and a heart attack associated with the coronavirus infection.

The woman from Atalugama had passed away at her home, while the cause of death was identified to be high blood pressure, diabetes and increased levels of cholesterol with the coronavirus infection.
