Covid update 26 Nov : Three deaths and over 500 infected cases
A total of 559 persons infected with Covid-19 was reported yesterday.
The country total has increased to 22,028. According to worldometer Sri Lanka has moved up in the list of countries with the highest covid cases into 98th position.
Meanwhile, three more COVID deaths were reported in the country yesterday(26).
Accordingly, the death toll in Sri Lanka has increased to 99.
The details of the deceased are as follows.
The following three deaths caused by Covid-19 infection were confirmed by the Director General of Health Services.
01.The deceased was an 87 year old male from Colombo 08. He died on 26.11.2020 in the General Hospital Colombo. The cause of death is a bacterial infection and exacerbated chronic lung decease with Covid-19 virus infection.
02.The deceased was an 80 year old male from Bambalapitiya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 and deceased on 25.11.2020 while receiving treatments in the Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa. The cause of death is High Blood Pressure, Pneumonia and a heart attack caused by Covid-19 virus infection
03.The deceased was a 73 year old female from Peliyagoda. She died on 23.11.2020 in the General Hospital Colombo.The cause of death is High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and stroke due to Covid 19 virus infection.
Meanwhile, with the identification of 44 new infections at a garment factory in the Eheliyagoda - Divurumpitiya area, the total number of infected cases reported from that factory has increased to 60. Sabaragamuwa Provincial Director of Health Services Dr. Kapila Kannangara stated that a dangerous situation has arisen in the Eheliyagoda area due to this situation.
As a result, several schools have already been closed and a decision will be taken today whether to close all schools in the Eheliyagoda area should be closed for another week.
Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath has decided to close all schools in the Kalmunai Education Zone for a week from today. This was after 21 infected persons were identified after a random PCR test was conducted in the Ampara District.
The Governor has issued a statement requesting the public to restrict movement in Akkaraipattu, Saindamaradu and Addalachchenai areas in view of the prevailing dangerous situation.
Meanwhile, the Gampaha District Public Health Inspectors have decided to end their daily duties at 4.30 pm in protest to a letter sent by the District Health Services Director revising their working hours. This has caused severe inconvenience to the public.
The Gampaha Regional Health Service Office had sent ambulances to admit seven patients who were reported from the Katana Medical Officer of Health Division yesterday afternoon, but they had to be sent back without being admitted due to the lack of public health inspectors.
Also, a resident of Wester Sedan Estate in the second lane at Kadirana, Negombo complained of a delay in hospitalization of a coronavirus infected person having difficulty breathing
The Deputy Director of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association, S.A.U.T.Kulathilake said that the District Director of Health Services should take responsibility regarding delays in hospitalization of patients in Gampaha District.
