588 arrested so far for failure to wear masks and maintain social distances
A total of 62 people were arrested on Tuesday (Nov. 24), over the failure to follow COVID-19 health regulations, Sri Lanka Police said.
“Since the 30th of October to-date, 588 suspects were arrested for the failure to wear face masks and maintain social distances,” Police Spokesperson, DIG Ajith Rohana said on Wednesday (Nov. 25).
He noted that whether one is residing in an isolated area or not, wearing a face mask is mandatory.
The quarantine order with regard to isolation is in effect in 18 police jurisdictions in the Colombo and Gampaha districts.
