Ranil to be nominated from the National list to parliament
A proposal has been made to appoint former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe the leader of the United National Party for the post of National List Member of Parliament.
This was stated at a meeting of former UNP parliamentarians held at the Sirikotha party headquarters this morning.
A proposal was made at the UNP Committee meeting last Monday that Ranil Wickremesinghe should be nominated for the National List.
A senior party representative stated that the committee consists of 19 members, 13 of whom have signed and submitted a letter of consent
Earlier it was stated that Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardena would hand over the document to party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today after obtaining the signatures of the other members.
However, party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe previously rejected a request made to him to enter the parliament from the national list
