Report on tremor in Kandy to be released tomorrow: GSMB Chairman
The report of the recent tremor erupted in Kandy will be released tomorrow, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) Chairman Anura Walpola said.
He said further actions would be taken following the report recommendations. "A three-member expert team was deployed to investigate the incident on Thursday (19)," he said.
Walpola said three earthquakes had been reported in the area within a short period of time.
Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera also instructed the GSMB Chairman to launch an immediate investigation over the tremor.
The recent tremor was reported in Ambakote, Haragama and Anuragama areas in the Kandy District on Wednesday (18) at 09.28 a.m closer to the magnitude of 2.0 on the Richter scale.
