Users report Facebook outage, widespread login issues

Facebook and several other Meta-owned platforms appear to have gone down worldwide, leaving millions of users unable to access their accounts.

Earlier today (12 June), websites such as Downdetector began to notice a spike in users reporting error messages when trying to access the social media app on its web and mobile sites.

Meanwhile, users have also noticed issues when accessing Instagram and the WhatsApp desktop feature.

Issues with Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp appear to be global

According to downforeveryoneorjustme, the issue is not just in the UK but also worldwide, with users from the Philippines, Canada, the USA, Australia and India all reporting issues when trying to access their accounts

Multiple users across several countries reported problems accessing Facebook today (12), with many saying they were unexpectedly logged out of their accounts and were unable to log back in.

Reports of issues surged on online outage-monitoring platforms, with users citing login failures, account access problems, and difficulties using certain features of the social media platform.

Some users said they were repeatedly prompted to log in despite entering the correct credentials, while others reported being unable to access their accounts altogether.

The apparent disruption affected both the Facebook mobile application and web platform, according to user reports.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, had not issued an official statement on the matter at the time of publication.

It remains unclear whether the issue is global or limited to specific regions.
