Red Advisory Lifted for Fishing and Naval Communities: MET Dept. Warns of Rough Seas and Winds in Northern Waters
The Red advisory issued for the fishing and naval community from Colombo to Puttlam, Mannar, and Kankesanthurai up to Trincomalee has been lifted as the low-pressure system currently located in the Gulf of Mannar is weakening.
However, the MET Dept. says that showers may occur at times in the coastal sea areas from Mannar to Kankesanthurai and Trincomalee up to Pottuvil.
Showers may also occur at several places in other coastal areas around the island.
Wind speeds of 30 to 40 km/h may occur over the coastal areas from the East to the Northeast of the island while, wind speeds over the sea areas from Puttlam to Mannar through Kankesanthurai may increase up to 50–55 km/h at times.
The MET Dept. also warns that the sea areas from Puttlam to Mannar through Kankesanthurai may become rough at times.
