Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday stated that he strongly believes that a children’s hospital should be built in every province.

The Prime Minister said the Government is focusing on developing and maintaining children’s hospitals which are limited to Colombo and Kandy, in all provinces.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa made this observation at the ground breaking ceremony of the nine storied Intensive Care and Surgical Ward Complex and the inauguration of the new operating theater complex with the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital.

The event was held to coincide with World Children’s Day and the 125th anniversary of the hospital. The Prime Minister and Shiranthi Rajapaksa presented gifts to children on the occasion of World Children’s Day.

The Prime Minister also launched the official website of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital and the digital clinic system, a communique issued by the Prime Minister’s media division said.
