Rejected Proposal Ends in Double Tragedy in Sri Lanka
A man has reportedly taken his own life after allegedly murdering his girlfriend in the Marangala area of Padiyathalawa.
According to police, the suspect had gone to the young woman’s residence early this morning and attacked her with a sharp weapon following her rejection of his marriage proposal.
The victim, a 22-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Her parents, who attempted to intervene and save their daughter, sustained cut injuries and were admitted to the Maha Oya Hospital for treatment.
The suspect, a 31-year-old man from the Monaragala area, is believed to have fatally wounded himself by slashing his own throat shortly after the attack.
