“No instructions given for state hospitals to use the drug “Sudharshana” as a remedy for COVID-19” State Minister
State Minister of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply, and Regulation Channa Jayasumana today refuted reports claiming that he had issued instructions for state hospitals to use the drug “Sudharshana” as a remedy for the COVID-19 infection.
Responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harsha de Silva in Parliament today, State Minister Jayasumena said he had not issued any such instructions.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics has issued a statement, claiming that such instructions by the State Minister of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply, and Regulation could only increase the sales of the drug with no proof of efficacy or safety, and encourage self-medication with possible human effects.
