For the first time, more than 10,000 extra students enrolled in universities
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairperson Prof. Sampath Amaratunga stated that for the first time it was decided to enroll more than ten thousand extra students for State Universities.
UGC Chair further requested those who wish to change the university courses and the university of their choice according to the cut-off marks to forward the Commission an e-mail due to the inactivity of the postal system.
Accordingly, students can submit their appeals directly via www.ugc.ac.lk website, or emailing appeals@ugc.ac.lk
Meanwhile, Education Ministry Secretary, Prof. Kapila Perera said that the re-opening of schools for the third term will be postponed by two weeks based on the recommendations of the Health Ministry. Schools were scheduled to commence their third term on 09 October.
However, via the internet and remote methods, the syllabus will be taught, said the Education Secretary.
