Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board Identifies 80,000 Acres of Flood-Damaged Farmland

The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board states that approximately 80,000 acres of farmland were affected by the floods in November.

In a statement, the Board mentioned that crop damage assessments have been completed in the districts of Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Mannar.

The statement further mentioned that compensation payments will be made once the final reports from these districts are received.

Additionally, crop damage assessments in the districts of Batticaloa, Ampara, and Trincomalee will be completed the day after tomorrow, while assessments in the districts of Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, and Matale are expected to be concluded by December 30.

The Board also stated that the assessment of flood-damaged crops is being carried out with the assistance of the Department of Agrarian Development and the participation of agrarian organizations.
