Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 2.00 pm, says the Department of Meteorology. 

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are be expected at some places in Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces.

Showers will occur in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces in the morning.

The Met. Department requests the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea areas:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Galle via Puttalam and Colombo. Few spells of showers may occur in the other sea areas around the island, the Met. Department said further.

Winds will be North-easterly in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Kankesanturai, Trincomalee and Batticaloa.

Winds will be variable in the direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.

The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. 

Temporarily strong gusty winds (up to 70-80 kmph) and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
