Attempted Shooting In Mahabage; Assailants Flee After Assaulting Victim with Assault Rifle
In a harrowing incident this morning, an attempt to harm an individual in Mahabage’s Parakrama Watta area had failed.
According to Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Talduwa, two assailants had arrived on a motorcycle and specifically targeted a field officer employed at the Wattala MOH Office.
At approximately 8:00 AM, while the officer was at home, the intruders entered the residence and discharged a T-56 firearm.
The Police Spokesperson said that the weapon malfunctioned, sparing the officer’s life.
Thereafter, a confrontation ensued between the officer and the attackers.
The suspect ultimately resorted to physically assaulting the man with the weapon before fleeing the scene.
