Matara grid substation to be shutdown as safety precaution.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) informed that if the water levels continue to rise in the area around the Matara grid sub station, as a safety precaution the power will be disconnected from the Matara grid sub station.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Minister said power to the affected areas in Matara will be reconnected shortly after from the Deniyaya and Beliatta sub stations.
The Minister added that Navy boats and personnel have been put on standby to evacuate CEB personnel from the Matara Grid substation after the completion of the shutdown.
