Plans to limit power generation at Samanala Wewa after Aug 15th.
Plans are in place to limit power generation at the Samanala Wewa power plant after the 15th of August, as the water capacity of the reservoir has decreased further.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said measures will be taken to generate power only during peak hours for electricity demand.
The CEB has reportedly planned to release the water used for power generation to the Udawalawa Reservoir.
The CEB said a water capacity of 25 million cubic meters is continuously released into the Udawala Reservoir when power is not being generated.
The CEB said it expects to generate power only during peak hours until the 20th of August, according to the new plan.
As of Sunday (13) afternoon, one of the generators at the Samanala Wewa power plant was used for power generation, with a capacity of 60 megawatts.
