CAA to crackdown on traders selling rice at high prices
The Consumer Affairs Authority said that raids will be carried out from Tuesday (3) to locate traders who are selling rice at higher prices.
The Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority Major General (Rtd.) Shantha Dissanayake said legal action would be taken against such traders.
An Extraordinary Gazette Notification was issued last night fixing the maximum retail price for local rice.
Accordingly, the MRP for 1kg of a Red Nadu Rice is set at Rs.220/-, and 1kg of White or Red Samba is set at Rs. 230/- and a 1kg of Keeri Samba at Rs. 260/-
